How to Care for Your First Succulent

Succulents are incredibly popular houseplants, known for their unique shapes and low-maintenance needs. However, "low maintenance" doesn't mean "no maintenance." If you just got your first plant, here are a few basic rules.

The most common mistake plant parents make is overwatering. Succulents store water in their leaves, so they only need a drink when their soil is completely dry. Always make sure your pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.

Place them in a bright spot where they can get plenty of indirect sunlight. A south-facing window is usually the best spot. With the right care and a little bit of patience, your green friends will thrive for years.
